Put to Bed-ford

Will Townley

With both teams coming off positive results the week before, Bedford against Peli’s and South against Stortford, this game promised a competitive battle for points in a tight league.

South started well before the game settled into a close affair with both sides creating opportunities. Bedford broke the deadlock through a short corner and at half time with South 1-0 down, and discipline starting to drop, we knew we had to change things.

Bedford got an early goal through another short corner before a couple more to make it 4-0 and out of reach. A first goal for Elk late on was a bright spark in what was mostly a game to forget for South.

To make things more interesting, and so I don’t have to think too much about the game, it wouldn’t be an M1s match report without categories.

With Halloween last week, it made me wonder what kind of confectionary you could find when trick or treating at the squad's house.

Stanley: Dates, the kind of guy to hand out fruit on Halloween.

Mark: Caramac, I'm told they were great.

Ed: Snickers, you’re not you when you’re hungry.

Nik: love hearts, lover boy

Pudds: protein bar or gels, to fuel those long distance runs.

Will: Yorkie, elite confectionary.

Scott: Orange slices, self explanatory.

Sam: Strawbs, versatile hard sweet (come in a softie version/when drunk) or Cadbury fingers, Sam could do with a couple spares.

Willow: jelly babies, the man must have shares.

Lindars: Twirl, verb: to spin quickly and lightly round, especially repeatedly (Oxford languages dictionary).

Eric: Freddos, feels right.

Harry: Reese’s cups, did you know he’s been to the US?

Elk: Cadbury animals, not sure if there is an elk version, but there should be.

Tim: Squashies, spends too much time with the L1s
