M1 3-9 Blueharts Mens 1

Mark Inman

Cambridge South burst out of the blocks with an intensity that immediately rattled league leaders Blueharts. From the first whistle, South carved out clear scoring opportunities through sharp passing and impressive early energy. Willow twice found the net, only to see both efforts frustratingly ruled out by some over-eager officiating. Despite the adversity, South held their composure and continued to push forward, putting real pressure on Blueharts throughout an impressive first half. The league leaders were visibly unsettled, and for a time, South looked the more dangerous side. Oscar looking particular dangerous dragging that parachute around the pitch at pace…
However, the tide turned after the break. A combination of cards left South increasingly outmanned, and Blueharts—clinical and well-drilled—capitalised on the numerical advantage. With the opposition’s quality on full display and a number of short corners awarded against us making things difficult.
South battled to the end and took their chances when they came, earning three well-deserved goals and celebrating them with the pride we’ve come to admire in this team. However, the final whistle confirmed a 9–3 defeat that hardly reflected the spirit, determination, or early dominance shown by the team.
A frustrating result—but a performance full of promise, resilience, and moments that will give any league leader plenty to think about.

Choo-choo! All aboard!

Cambridge South secured yet another post-match win, taking their tally of ‘teas won’ to 9 for the season with no indication that the streak won’t continue into double digits.

Blueharts put out top-tier teas, Sam controversially abstained from MoM voting while he looked for his imaginary friend, Harry Lewis took us to a closed pub, but eventually the first East Prem train beers got going with special guest Oscar Serra before he leaves us for Spain.

Pub guide for Hitchin-Cambridge :

    1.    Hitchin - plenty to choose from, but we highly recommend phoning ahead. Harry Lewis didn’t. We decided not to crash a private party, this time… Radcliffe Arms was a decent second choice (7/10)

    2.    Letchworth - two pubs at the station presents a dilemma. We recommend asking Oscar for his recommendation. He’s basically a local and loves The Platform (3/10)

    3.    Baldock - Old White Horse advertises a wood-fired pizza oven and mariachi music on weekends. We’re sure it’s a vibe, but wouldn’t know. Honourable mention to Lindars for offering a round when trying to become pint leader. Self-defeating, but a class move (8/10)

    4.    Royston - King James is a lovely small town pub. No man is an island, but this pub is - a traffic island. Don’t remember much else (5/10)

    5.    Foxton - The White Horse was the classic village pub. Has beer. Gave Nik yet another chance to casually suggest a game of pool in that polite, high-pitched tone that screams ‘I’m really good and just want to embarrass you!’ (5/10)
