On a cold, wet afternoon, South came across a strong Cambridge City team mixed with youth and experience. Both teams cancelled out each other’s attacks with some good defending until City broke the deadlock following a short corner. South continued to fight hard and their pressure was rewarded with a great equaliser by Bex. After this it was all South but they just couldn’t make it count unfortunately. Rather against the run of play, City broke away and scored to make it 2-1 before half time. South continued to play with great determination to get back into the match but City held firm. Halfway through the second half, City scored their third goal but that didn’t stop South continuing to search for more goals. They put a lot of pressure on the City defence and there was an almighty scramble and South were very unlucky not to get the ball over the line. South continued to support each other and urge each other on, showing great team spirit. South not only showed determination but also quality and Steph (POM)  showed great skill up front beating players with her incredible pace and also charging down balls that looked like were impossible to reach. It was a tough match for South against a solid City team but I am sure South will be back to winning ways soon.

POM: Steph

LOM: Gemma

Final score: Cambridge City 3-1 Cambridge South
