Close but not close enough
Rhi DaviesSouth knew this was going to be a tough match, a draw the last time the two teams met and similar positions in the league table. The hopes of a walk over were short lived once Kettering finally made their way to the pitch.
The ball made its way quickly up and down the pitch with both sides showing threats. Multiple shots just outside the post from South, reaped of a reminder from the beginning of the season. Unfortunately, Kettering were more clinical and after some fantastic saves from Lu, South were 1-0 down at half time.
Izzy and Jas posed some fantastic threats but the Kettering goalkeeper always seemed to get a pad or stick to keep the ball out. South defence stayed solid in the second half and although some wonderful chances came from Nics ever deceptive passes, which earnt her many well deserved PoM votes, South weren't able to convert with the match finishing as the second half started 0-1.
LoM went to the player who decided to spend as much time on the floor as on her feet, Rhi. Coco's 12mins arrival prior to push back was a close contender; Wife birthday more important than hockey??
PoM was split between the great runs of Jas and slick passes of Nic.
