L5 1-2 Newmarket Ladies 2

The sun was shining and the positive vibes were strong as we assembled for an early start at Newmarket. The first half was an even contest but eventually Newmarket took the lead through a short corner. At the end of the first half, some great play, starting with a brilliant defensive hit out from Anna, worked the ball up the pitch and ended with a great finish from Zarah after a well-timed run into the D to equalise on the half time whistle. Newmarket regained their lead in the second half. South failed to keep 5 metres from a sideline hit, so it was upgraded to a short corner. The initial attempt was kept out, and a scramble ensued in which the ball may or may not have gone off the back, but eventually was scrambled over the line. This was a much closer contest than our previous match against Newmarket earlier in the season, reflecting once again how we have improved as a team.

Great interceptions and hit-outs at the back, including a superb pass that set the moves in motion for our goal.
