Sunny semi-retirement
Wilco DijkstraOn a sunny warm Saturday in January Cambridge South 6 played against Newmarket 4. As usual for the development team, South was fielding a mix of fast young players and slower but experienced "golden oldies". Today we saw the unexpected return of Ky Ho after almost a year of (semi-)retirement after playing for South for well over 30 years.
We played well, however Newmarket fielded several very experienced players who were controlling the mid field and passing the ball. They scored several goals, mostly passes from the side across the P-spot. Their experience was really shown by an incredible tomahawk from the far edge of the D at an impossible angle that went up high into the goal. We kept fighting hard but couldn't stop their onslaught, and the final result was 6-0 to Newmarket.
MoM was a split between Ahmed for great work in the midfield and Ian for defending. Lom to Rob for adding himself to the teamlist, turning up late (preferring another match over ours???) and not even playing...
