L6 3-0 Wisbech Town Ladies 5
After a sticky start to the season, the 6s are on a roll – today was their fourth game in a row, following a comprehensive win and two narrow defeats. It was a late push back at Wisbech, and relied on numerous double ups to get the team out, but we did it! It was South’s game from the start. In the first half, nearly all the action was in the opposing D as South put continued pressure on the goal. Alice gave us an early lead, Elodie added a second, and we were 2-nil up at half time, whilst GK Lou watched them through the mist. The second half continued in similar form. There were energetic drives through midfield by Sophie and Emily, among others. Wisbech had a late push on the attack, resulting in some brilliant interceptions by Poppy, Alice, and Lottie among others, and giving Lou the chance to kick the ball once. Given how much time we spent in Wisbech’s 25, credit must go to their defence and GK for keeping it at 2-nil. It was dark and sleety by the time the final whistle blew, and we were happy to head to the warm clubhouse for some pizza and conveniently timed rugby on the big screen.
