Lemon debut
Sélène Stoop
Rachael was our captain for the day and I’m sure she gave a great team talk to hype the team up who were grateful for the lack of rain compared to last week. I unfortunately did not witness this as I mixed up the meet and start time - earning (my first ever !!) lemon before the game had even started :/
We played well, but so did Peterborough - it was a frustrating game and not the result we were hoping for however there were many positives so let’s name those instead !
- The forwards Emily and Marissa had many beautiful shots on goal (made the audience audibly gasp !!) they unfortunately didn’t reach the back of the net, but we have to give credit to Peterborough’s goal keeper who had clearly had her weetabix and was saving everything flying towards her
- Bex and Gemma as always making stunner runs and carrying the ball up the pitch making it look so simple and creating lots of space
- Hannah, Lou and Rachael connecting all the play in the middle, creating triangles and allowing us to keep possession
- It looked like Tilly and Vinnie didn’t stop running they were always in the right place to receive the ball and carried us forward
- Ell, Jess, Warbs and I had a slightly calmer game in defence but it did get tenser in the second half with saves having to be made and short corners having to be defended, so shout out to them too for keeping a lovely clean sheet
Honourable mention to Luisa and Indi who came to support and help out on the sidelines even when injured - real troopers we’ve got there
PoM went to Tilly for amazing play and runs and LoM went to me :)
