Been a while since a theme
Hannah SpellmooreGoals, bloody knees and a wonky finger
Think its been a while since we have had a theme? Did you know I love animals?
Luisa:
• Welcome back to our Captain! Returning from injury she had a stormer (earning herself POM).
• With a 1 on 1 heading to goal, she took a tumble in the D resulting in a P-flick. Despite excellent pressure from Selene, Saints scored a goal. 1-0 Saints.
• With her bloody knees, she played the rest of the match in her classic solid and strong play. Refusing to quit – she is a wolf.
Jess:
• We are 2-0 down and have several short corner attempts. None go in until one ends up in a P-flick. Jess bravely steps up and takes it. G-g-g-g-g-goaaaal!
• With her laser focus and perfect aim under pressure – she is a hawk.
Hannah:
• Maybe our fifth short corner attempt…Hannah receives the ball on the short left slip and slaps it in. 2-2, we’ve got this!
• Playing in center-mid, she plays the simple but effective balls – she is a cob. With a splash of chestnut mare for refusing Bex’s limp hairband when she was in need.
Gemma:
• We love Gem on the wings, so speedy, the oppo cant stop her. Up she drives and into the D. Fast, consistent and always ready to go – she is a terrier.
El:
• Lovely moment of El calling “I’m here”, proceeds to fall over, “oops, not anymore”.
• Playing in screen, she has great control & distribution. A defensive powerhouse who is calm, dominant and gives clear instructions to others on the team – she is a lioness.
Steph:
• She’s speedy. She is clinical. She is explosive. She scored two goals. Need I say more? She is a Cheetah.
Annabel:
• She is a kingfisher – have you been to her house??
• In terms of the game, although we love her as center back, I’m sure she was happy to be on the wings today. Always calm, with super accurate tackles. She made some lovely runs – even made it into the D.
Georgie:
• New to the team she fit in great. Lots of excellent runs and movement on the ball. Thanks for coming! Friendly and easy to play with – she is an otter.
Katie:
• Always driving down the line and her strong hits. Explosive and powerful – she is a tiger.
Bex:
• When the oppo are taking 16s, you can always count on Bex to put in solid pressure. So much commitment. Played some lovely triangles, speedy runs and great balls.
• Stepped up to take a P-flick when we were 4-3 up. A strong attempt, but the goalie just got the tips of her fingers on it to save it. Despite this, Bex remains strong and determined – she is a shark.
Selene:
• Started off as a quiet game for Selene but was then was thrown in the deep end with a P-flick as her first bit of action. This did not get her down, she kept fighting on and on and made some excellent saves. Superstar.
• Graceful and calm on the surface, strong and powerful underneath – she is a swan.
Louisa
• Told on me for kissing through the fence, reminded people of hairband-gate. She is a snake.
• I jest, second game back (I believe) post injury and it is like she never left. Swooping in and snatching the balls off the opposition, super defender – she is an orca.
Vinnie
• She’s fast, she intercepts balls, she is everywhere. She is a border collie.
Tina:
• Its 4-4. A short corner is awarded to Saints in the last seconds on the game. The final whistle has gone. We cannot let them go 5-4 up to end the game.
• But no, we have Tina, who makes a goal line save. With her fast reflexes and protective instinct - she is a panther.
• Luckily for her, LOM votes had already been cast when she asked who Hannah was kissing through the fence.
Bex’s limp hairband:
• Crocodile, I don’t like them and didn’t like her hairband. It’s a no from me.
Bag of sweetcorn:
• My hero. Is my finger broken or just mega, mega painful? Injured during one of my falls on the slippy pitch – give me sympathy not lemon.
• Sweetcorn is a pig, I love my pigs.
Bye bye. Broken brain struggled with this and needs a rest.
