A Day at the Beach

South M4s travelled to Newmarket on Saturday for what can only be described as a lovely day at the seaside.

Newmarket got off to a very early start, with an unfortunate series of events and some neat forward skills leaving us 1–0 down. They then spent much of the afternoon attempting to lob the ball over our defence/sand castles, although thankfully never quite managed to turn one into a goal.

South eventually settled into the game and built some sustained pressure, repeatedly bombarding the Newmarket D, until Justin finally closed it out with a flick over the keeper to make it 1–1.

The heat and sand made it hard work for everyone, but the defence held firm and we saw the game out for a deserved point. It's not quite the 3 points per 3 games Matt wanted but it's close I think.

There were also two green cards: Seb for doing exactly the thing he'd just been warned not to do, and Will for having fantastic long legs that sometimes mean feet aren't where they should be.

Finally, teas were served in complete darkness, because no-one could figure out where the light switch was.
