The L3s were keen to get going in their first outing back in Div 2NW, having bounced straight back from their relegation two seasons ago.

Peterborough had brought quite a youthful side, which kept the back line (me, Annabel (brilliant key tackles and great attacking runs), Jess P (first game for South with solid distribution and good defence management); Tina (decisive tackling) and GK Selene (player of the match saves) very busy! Despite this pressure, we scored first through El from a well-rehearsed PC, only for it to be disallowed.  El, along with fellow screens Jess K and Shree, did exactly as coach Tess had asked and kept passing strong and the middle clear.

Lou, Susie (another South debutante who clicked straight into our line up), Gemma and Hannah (who scored) had great games in midfield, closing down Peterborough players and feeding the ball up to our forward line. 

Steph and Kendra created several great chances from strong plays – both finding the goal to bring our tally to three.  Indi, as always, showed amazing skills with tight turns and weaves, finding space from nothing.

Overall the team had a great first game.  The only negative to the day was the result – a draw would have been a much better reflection of what had been a fun and even game.

Okay, yes – this is pretty light on detail on what actually happened – sorry team!  And it’s not as if I wasn’t given clear notice before the game had even started that I’d be given lemon and thus the task of writing the match report. I guess I was just too busy playing the game to be quite sure of what actually happened!
