Inspired by the most important season starting this week (GBBO), here’s a summary of baked goods the L2s reminded me off in our derby against the L3s

Harry - a crepe, always a joy to have (on the team), she kept the team together and earned lots of PoM votes for great communication and for being “here, there, and everywhere”

Hayley - a Victoria Sponge, Hayley is someone you can just always trust to be a good addition to a picnic (team), no matter where you put her, even when all your forwards take a week off, she suddenly shines (and scores) up front

Indi - you have to be tenacious to make your own puff pastry, so Indi is a home made croissant, as tenacious is a word I’d use to describe her playing style, never giving up and pushing the ball over the line after Selene saved it multiple times

Izzy - she’s the youngest in the squad so she gets to be a modern Crookie (google it, sounds delicious), with fast runs and dribbles through the opposition 

Jas - Just like a petit four in a fancy restaurant, Jas was a welcome surprise to join the table (team sheet) for the week and impressed with her silky skills and our first goal, looking cool and composed as always

Jenny - German Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, the unexpected kick from the Kirsch Liqueur is like the unexpected aerials that don’t go quite where she plans for them to go

Libby - sourdough bread, bread week at GBBO means much kneading, Libby arrived with sore arms from delivering so many babies this week, yet still managed some fantastic tackles and runs up the wing

Lu - like a gooey brownie, Lu always brings great energy to the team, we love her for her good vibes, music in the changing room, and the occasional save when it’s needed, she also started a successful smear campaign to give lemon to Scarlett for a funny fall

Luisa C- that apple caramel cake I once baked in a rush, tasted amazing but was warm when decorated so the icing melted off. Just like Luisas face paint didn’t survive the warm up and her shoe came off during a hectic situation in our D, somehow got away without another lemon and can thank Lu for it

Nic - She is star baker so she remind me off her own bakes, beautiful (play), delicious (skills), surprising flavours (her perfect pass to the gpost meant Scarlett got her goal), if you ask her very nicely she might even bake your wedding cake

Rachael - Scottish shortbread (the gluten free version) and proud of it, she brings the long legs and dribbling power to our mids, always dangerous and great to have in your cupboard (squad)

Scarlett - Showstopper lemon drizzle cake, she smashed it in the centre and earned the cake stand (PoM), the cherry on top was the goal she scored from one of our many penalty corners, had so much energy her body didn’t know how to handle it so she took a lovely lemony tumble

Tabs - Rainbow cake, lots of fun with a sprinkle of chaos, she pushed through what sounds to be a slightly torn muscle and still made sweet runs up the wing and passes to our mids and forwards

Tilly - her two braids with ribbons reminded me of a lovely platted challah bread, she is just as light and lovely a person and was running non stop on the pitch, offering her passes to anyone who’d like them
