A point on the board
Lou WalkerOn a sunny morning, South were full of hope for our first win against St Ives 4s, the only team below us in the table who had yet to get a point. We’ve been unlucky in recent weeks, defeated by strong teams despite playing some excellent hockey. Energy levels today weren’t quite on a par with previous games, and we seemed to slow down to our opponents’ pace. Yet another new line up didn’t help as people adjusted to different positions. St Ives took the lead but this seemed to kick South up a gear and some pressure in the D ended with Rosie equalising. Both of St Ives’ goals were scored by a familiar face – former Southerner Avi, now relocated to St Ives. The second was a great solo run as she charged up the pitch with no one able to catch her. South did not give up, and earned the point, Sarah once again coming to the rescue with a late equaliser.
