Squad Training

Cambridge South runs professionally coached training sessions for men and women of all standards throughout the season from September to March at Long Road Sixth Form College or St Mary's and Homerton Sports Ground. All standard training sessions are free to attend, for club members and newcomers, with no booking required.

Ladies' Squads

1st & 2nd XIs - Tuesdays, 7:30pm - 9:30pm
5th & 6th XIs - Mondays, 7:30pm - 9pm

Mens training

Goalkeeper Training

As well as being included within the main men's and ladies' training sessions, the club also arranges fortnightly specialist training for goalkeepers. See the club calendar for the full training schedule. Keepers should arrive early and be kitted up and ready for the start of the session.

1st and 2nd Team Training

The Men's and Ladies' 1s and 2s run an extra half hour of training on their respective evenings. There is a supplemental fee of £30 per season for this session.

Pay and Play

Cambridge South offers informal hockey each week on Friday evenings at Long Road Sixth Form College during the season (September - March).

Cambridge South also offers informal hockey during the off-season (April to August):
Mixed half pitch higher and lower games: Mondays, 7pm - 8pm and Wednesdays, 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Mixed full pitch all-abilities game - Fridays, 7pm - 8pm
Ladies game - Thursdays, 7pm - 8pm
Ladies’ Masters (30+) game - Mondays, 8pm - 9pm

There is the option of higher and lower level small-sided knock-around games, each on a half pitch, or a full pitch all-abilities game. The sessions are mixed men's and ladies' hockey and open to everyone. You don't have to be a club member to come along and new players are very welcome.

To play, pre-book for a session via the Spond app or web portal. If you’re new to the club, contact , to be registered with us on Spond. The cost is £5 per session or £2.50 for students and the unwaged, payable on the night via contactless payment. If you're new to the club, your first session is free!
