The sun was shining and hockey was back. Whatever the score this has to be a win. The brand new L6 team made their debut – everyone wants to be part of South so a new team was needed to fit everyone in!

It was a strong start with sustained pressure on the opposition goal, and all the action was happening in their D. New player Niamh made a great start with some good shots and we were unlucky not to hit the target. Bishop Stortford had a couple of breaks which they managed to convert into goals though and we were two-nil down at half time. Mid-way through the second half Charlotte hit in a cracking goal to bring us back into competition but unfortunately we didn’t manage another one.

There was some great energetic play from midfielders Polly, Nicole, Charlotte and Emma, in spite of the fact it was the second match of the day for all of them. Both keepers made some impressive saves. Rosie’s excellent performance in defence deserves a mention, making several strong clearances, and Annabel made some great interceptions and balls down the line.
