A great team effort

Claudia Girardone

It was a warm sunny day …

No, just kidding.  It was another rainy day, feeling more like March than May!

We knew our opponents were going to be tough as they normally play in two leagues above us, but we started really well with some verygood passing and determination.

Captain Nicole’s subbing plan was as clear as ever. Shame I misread itand that gained me my first LOM ever!

The game was well fought and 1-1 for most of it, thanks to a goal by Anna C in the first half.

Needless to say, our defence had lots to do with great performance from Rebecca and Vicki, some brilliant saves of GK Cassie, and excellent all-round play by well-deserved POM Hayley S.

Fun fact: left- winger Sarah R’s sprint across Cambridge to play ¼ of the game in the second half resulted in her hitting the post.

We conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes. City 5’s third goal came after the final whistle on the third consecutive short corner.

Despite the final result we enjoyed the game and we could hold our heads high after showing a great team effort!

For taking a rest at the side after misreading the subbing plan!
