On the podium at least

A hot sticky day and a hot sticky game

1 - it was the first of the league campaign in the stratosphere of Div 5

2 teams were playing, but in truth there was only one team in the match for most of the time, except for when James Yu caused St Ives troubles down the right wing with his pace and persistence

3 - new boys all did themselves credit with solid performances in defence and midfield. Thank you David, Vincent and George

4 - goals we were down by half time

5 - Division 5 will be a tough one for us

6 - the M6 never gave up. Battling to the end against the northern hordes from annoyingly decent, but even more annoyingly competent St Ives chaps

7 - goals to St Ives by the end. But for MoM Mike Gillingham it could have been more

This one was an education. Skipper Jo heroically  turned up fresh from an argument betwen a fast moving hockey ball and his head to take notes. That's the dedication you get in the M6s. Hopefully he took notes from which we will learn and improve for the campaign to come, but be assured that we will enjoy our hockey. Pizzas afterwards at the Red Bull amongst most of the Cambridge hockey fraternity from all three local clubs and their opponents was convivial. It's good to be back. Next stop Kettering

Talking of the pub, any feedback on how this went? How long did Pizzas take to arrive, for example? This was the first run through of it and any feedback is useful for future weeks.
