Not exactly a smashing weekend

Disclaimer no sticks were harmed in the writing of this match report.
A side struck with illness, injuries and call ups left us with 15 unavailable this weekend, so a big thank you to Shin, Ali and Colin for stepping in.
A depleted mens 2s side arrived in Peterborough in good spirits after an excellent start to the new year. 11 men embarked on a warm up as Shin could neither confirm nor deny a detour to Maccies as he arrived in good time after the warm up.
The game began and the boys started the better side holding the ball well and playing through the high Peterborough press looking dangerous on the counter attack.
South took the lead mid way through the first half with a goal mouth scrap where Steve eventually got the ball across the line.
Peterborough responded well with an equaliser in the latter half of the first half, the goal came from a sustained period of pressure through multiple short corners with the goal coming when the ball fell to one of their players at the top of the D who took the ball forward and placed it in the left corner.
The second half commenced and again south looked good but weren’t making the most of their chances. Again Peterborough had a short corner mid way through the second half, the ball was injected and struck with venom through the gaping hole between Matts legs. This resulted in Matt not knowing his own strengths and his stick being struck on the ground causing it to snap and a short stoppage. South only having one sub and chasing the game were in trouble and despite the best efforts from everyone the game ended 2-1 to Peterborough. Man of the match was Colin who stepped in and was solid at the back and fitted in straight away. Lemon was given to Matt Lee for unknown reasons...
