Spalding win!

Ali Hart

On the 29th January, we hosted a struggling Spalding side, whose 4-hour round trip ended in defeat, closing the gap to 4th for the M2s.

The first 15 minutes of the game were a little underwhelming for the men’s 2s. Clearly some of the team had a hefty burns night prior to game day...  Somehow, Maz managed to deliver Spalding a p-flick, leaving all the pressure down to keeper Matt to utilise his lighting fast reflexes.  Unfortunately, he seemed distracted and infatuated by one of the spectators, leaving Spalding with an easy opportunity to go one-nil up.  Although Matt managed to rectify this mistake by scoring off the pitch.

Following this I managed to earn myself a spectacular green card with my very first step on to the pitch.  What a silly and deserved lemon I am in my yoga shorts!  Clearly, I may need a refresh on some of the rules...  From this point onwards, we woke up and decided to play some spectacular team hockey.  The defence were on point with Spalding not managing to have another shot on goal all game.  The midfield and forwards were electric, enabling us to dominate the opposition.  The tika-taka passing and movement off the ball was Barcelona-esk.  This ultimately lead to us scoring 4 goals from John, Maz, Baggers and creepy Creedy.

Special mentions:

 • John for his MOM performance, as he was simply unplayable for the opposition.
 • Matt and Steve for their exceptional work In the midfield
 • The awesome 18 year old (sorry I’m new) for schooling the opposition defenders
 • The team in general for our all round great performance.

Lots of love boys, onwards and upwards.
