Fiesty one you are
Hannah MunceyThis week the girls made the trip out to a very windy (and sandy) Kettering where our darling Juliet was up to her usual tricks, securing our first goal in the opening minutes. This settled the girls for a fiesty game ahead. The pitch was slow but the girls got into their stride working their way around the opposition with Emma distributing excellently from the middle (rightfully earning her a number of POM votes). Tabs also ran rings around the opposition (FYI she has been working out) which also earned her some POM votes, but she gave herself the biggest surprise when she found herself well positioned on the post and nailing the backboards from a short corner! Then it was Steph who rounded up the first half beautifully by persevering against an impressive keeper with many strikes and rebounds which resulted in her bagging a further 2 goals. 4-0 up at half time and the opposition were clearly ruffled and up in arms at their own umpires decision making - the captains were called in and Lucy Bedford brought the sass when defending her team (which was much appreciated but did earn her a few LOM votes). However the majority of LOM votes came early in the second half when Tiff got herself carded and unknowingly took her time getting to the designated naughty chair!
The opposition came in hard and fast in the second half with a number of shorts being given and well timed slips securing them their first and second goals of the match. However defence stood strong with Hannah Muncey redeeming herself with her classic on-pitch comms and stopping a ball on the line (earning a few POM votes). But it was Katie Hunter who really rose to the challenge in defence earning the well deserved overall POM - she shouts, she runs, she tackles, she’ll have you - what a game girl! Then to round up the game Emily Bird found the back of the net for our 5th and final goal following a cross in from Juliet and a pass from a floundering Emma on the floor (don’t worry, she gets up quickly).
Overall a really strong team effort - we had fun and we even did some lifts and roll outs (you’re welcome Paul / Tim).
