Debut match - debut goal
Harry LustyThe sky was clear and the sunshine was shining as the L6s made their way to Saffron Waldon. The team was in high spirits, but due to the weather many question if a soltero would potentially be more enjoyable than the match. However, not even the immature railway [Ed - what, like Thomas the Tank Engine?] could deter us from a good game of hockey. The team started strong with good passing down the wings and moving up the pitch from Georgia, Luisa and Lizzie. The play was in both D and both teams pushing to score. Elly (in goal) was saving goals left and right with May and Vinnie clearing the ball away. We pushed hard but sadly at half time the score was 2-0 to Walden.
At the restart we knew what we had to do - push the ball wide and drive up. However, the gummy fruit had clearly gone to some peoples heads and myself (Harry) and Lizzie decided to start on wrong side of pitch earning me LOM. After our blunder Evie ran up the line firing a ball into the D for Bex to smash into the goal. The next goal was followed by a struggle in the D but Pedzi was perfectly place to tap it in after a rebound earning her debut goal in her debut match for Cambridge South!!!! Overall we worked hard and a 2-2 draw, we felt, was a good overall outcome for a lovely sunny hockey game.
