What we told the press

South 4ths outplayed promotion chasing Long Sutton for long periods of this game and came within seconds of picking up their first win of the season as a result, only to suffer heartbreak at the death when the visitors nicked a late equaliser.

Long Sutton’s confidence was clear in the opening half as they started on top, taking the lead midway through the period. However South grew into the game and levelled in the dying minutes of the first half when Matt scrambled home a penalty corner. That goal saw South’s confidence blossom, leading to them playing some of their best Hockey this season after the break, moving the ball around sharply in possession and putting in the hard yards tracking runners when out of it. As a result they looked the stronger side and got their reward with a slick goal finished off by Jordan.

At that point it looked like South were going to claim an unexpected win, only for an individual goal late on from the visitors to steal a share of the points.
