The scoreline reflected the game
Suzi PughAfter a series of tough games, losses and lots of people quoting ‘the scoreline doesn't reflect the play’, we were determined to carry the energy we brought to last week's Derby to the City of Peterborough this week. The day started pitchside, catching the end of the first half of the M3 game whilst Rhi (earning her weekly LOM vote) lay on the floor with her foam roller.
The first half started slightly erratically but we soon settled down after Rhi scored the first goal. Peterborough gave us a crazy run around. It was a hot day and Tess decided stripping on the sideline was neccessary. We conceded shortly after bringing the scores back to 1-1. Emily smashed the second goal and the third came straight from the defence up to Tiff and into the net!
The half time whilst couldn’t come soon enough as unpopular umpiring calls caused some heated words between the CoP players and the umps - but luckily the 3s were cool and calm. The half time oranges came out (thanks Lucy!), we gathered our heads ready for the second half.
In the second half, Peterbourgh came out strong but we came out stronger. Lots of short corners happened on both sides of the pitch but no goals were scored. Lydia made some outstanding saves, including an impressive stick save mid air. The game finished 3-1 to us and we can finally say the scoreline reflected the game.
POM votes went across our defensive line for Lucy, Hannah Suzi and Lydia and to our favourite mascot Adelaide, but PoM crown goes to inner, Rhi, who’s work rate just seemed unstoppable.
LOM votes went to Tess, for stripping, Phoebe for falling over randomly, Lucy for a parking debacle, Rhi as usual but taking the lemon beanie is Suzi for cheering for her old team (Saints sounds a lot like City – so also looking like she was supporting the City of Peterbrough).
