Playing for funzies
Harry LustyThe morning started with the cold snap just missing Newmarket as the team headed to the pitch. The first LOM votes probably should have been given to all of us trying to get Lauren into the goalkeeper kit. Luckily the oppo's goalkeeper stepped into to help us with the request of a potential stick needing to be borrowed. Five minutes till pushback the late arrivals made it to the pitch (queue Becky and Julie’s LOM votes incoming). The play started well with Avi managing to score the first goal, giving us the much needed drive for more. Newmarket pushed us hard with the defence coming and meeting all their challenges with swift balls away from our D.
Half time came and it the score had tipped in Newmarket’s balance with them up 4-1. After the mandatory sweets had been consumed and the decision made that we were playing for 'funzies' we headed back to the pitch. The mids were running wild performing some lovely small quick passes. Overall, the team played well and the 6-1 score line didn’t reflect how competitive the match was, and how much we push the Newmarket team. POM went to Lauren for her amazing goalkeeping, seeing her dive across the goal and pick balls from the air. LOM went to Becky and Julie for arriving just in time for pushback!
