Bringing the sunshine

Emma Alderton

After some confusion over the colour we were playing in (shoutout to izzy and emma) we arrived at st neots on time (well Ella found the tennis courts before she found the hockey pitch). We started with a good warm up and a motivating team talk from our captain.

The game started well with most of the possession being ours and in our attacking half. We made good use of the switch around the back and kept pushing forward with some great runs from Sophie D and Anne Marie. We had quite a few attacking short corners but unfortunately couldn’t score from them. However, Hannah scored a great goal from a beautiful base line assist from Cait and that was the only goal of the first half.

Second half we came back on the pitch with enthusiasm and determination to keep our lead. We then had two defensive shorts in this half but we kept strong and defended them both successfully. Next to score were Juliet with a strong hit that flew into the goal and Jess with a great zig-zag and straight past the keeper. We were now secure in our lead but didn’t let that stop us from keeping our structure and our excellent communication. Then to top it all off Ella scored our fourth goal (with a bit of help from their goalie)!

The match ended with us winning 4-0 and Sophie D and Izzy get joint player of the match and Emma getting Lemon of the match for turning up in the wrong kit.
