An Excerpt from Cambridge Court Filings

Prenote – This match report was written as if Tom Anns’ wife did give birth during the hockey game.

In this distinct and regrettable setting, we find ourselves documenting the legal proceedings surrounding the divorce of Tom Anns and Walshy (his wife+), a matter primarily stemming from Mr. Anns' unconventional decision to participate in an amateur field hockey match instead of attending the birth of their second child. The courtroom was marked by an atmosphere of solemnity, where the particulars of this familial dispute were laid bare for legal assessment. The only witnesses on such a soggy day were the L3s (aka Tom Blair’s fan club).

Mrs. Anns (aka Walshy), who was confined to Addenbrooke's hospital during the birth, was able to witness the field hockey match taking place from her room, a poignant visual symbol of the prevailing discord between the couple. Her testimony was a heartfelt account of her emotional turmoil during the birth and her struggle to reconcile her husband's apparent indifference to the gravity of the situation. The narrative was characterized by a prevailing sense of disappointment, one that underscored the dissonance between the profound life event occurring within the hospital and Mr. Anns' dedication to his participation in the sports match.

As the legal proceedings continued, the courtroom bore witness to an intricate interplay of emotions, not dissimilar to the complexity of a contested sporting match. Mr. Anns endeavored to justify his decision, emphasizing prior commitments and his amazing on-field tackles, whereas Mrs. Anns articulated the profound harm his absence had wrought upon their matrimonial relationship, topped off with his LOM award from his teammates – the judge ruling this as further evidence in favour of Mrs. Anns when even his teammates thought it was questionable.

Final remarks from the judge included that MOM should go to Jonny for…’shooting a lot at target, but scoring none’… Questions remain about the validity and the credibility of the judge, given this haphazard MOM.

Played a blinder, but the team felt he should have prioritised being with his imminently pregnant wife
