L4 4-1 Ely City Ladies 2
Alex BarkerReally fun match vs Ely 2s today. Hit the ground running with a goal scored by Amelia in the first 5 minutes with a cracking reverse shot to bottom right hand corner. We were hard against it though as Ely’s defence were able to make some great plays and kept us running hard to maintain possession. However, after various short corners Amelia was to put it away beautifully yet again with a straight strike to the left bottom corner. We, therefore, came into the second half feeling confident and strong after many fruitellas supplied by Emily. A stressful 10 minutes ensued where Ely’s press were relentless and they deservingly managed to get a goal past our defence. At which point Alex had a LOM moment where she and Emily had a stick tangle culminating in Alex losing hers but continuing to run on… We rallied quickly though and regained control, playing the majority of the rest of the game in their half. Many shots on goals and short corners took place, awarding us our 3rd goal with Amelia slipping it to Mo on right post who did slick deflection in. More shots on goal, one of which Alex managed to reverse it in to top right hand corner but unfortunately got a foot in the way and so it didn’t count. Bex had a cracking shot also, which was so good that even Mo felt the need to defend it. She remembered which side she was on thankfully and made up for it with another goal after some ping ponging around the D from a quick long corner. All in all a great match and very yummy teas with the final score being 4-1 to Cambridge South.
POM - a three way tie between Amelia, Mo and Alex for great goals and play making.
LOM - Alex - as mentioned for trying to play without a stick.
