First loss

Jordan Walker

Saturday saw the men’s 6’s travel to Peterborough. Despite the dark clouds and wet conditions at the start, spirits were high amongst the south team following a 2-0 win from the previous week. After an encouraging team talk by captain Sandy Taylor the game got underway. South started strongly with good possession and passing and a promising attack. But, Peterborough were quick to respond and reach souths D scoring the first goal of the match (1-0). South continued to push forward passing from left to right, a good pass in by Miles which began a good passage of play enabling myself (Jordan W) to score the equaliser (1-1). Eight minutes later Dexter puts another in the back of the net for south (1-2). The game continues with both sides creating chances but Peterborough score another (2-2). Before south have time to digest the goal 2 minutes later Peterborough plough through the south defence again scoring their 3rd (3-2). The second half begins with south losing it slightly in the midfield, Peterborough take advantage and score a 4th (4-2). South continue to battle with excellent play by Stu Creed, South get a short corner which results in James P making it 4-3 but, as the weather improves the sun is obviously shining on the home team as Peterborough score a 5th, and then a 6th after being awarded a penalty flick. Final whistle 6-3 to Peterborough. The man of the match was awarded to Stu Creed who worked tirelessly to win and keep possession of the ball. The 6’s now look ahead to their next game on 2nd November, at home against Cambridge Nomads 4’s
