Executive summary

- With coach Chris on the sideline, everyone was both enthused and well ordered. Thanks Chris.
- South dominated just about the whole thing, with most of the game taking place in the opposition's half.
- St Ives closed ranks and defended well, but with South on form weren't able to manufacture many chances...
- ...to the extent that Keeper Ben T got almost nary a touch on the ball (but did make some saves!), and one defender was heard to complain that there was not a lot to do this game.
- This was a great example of how we can play when on form, and is what we need to bring to our toughest matches in a few weeks.
- James M got MoM as a defender despite the forward focus, coming high enough to agitate the opposing defence brilliantly and make spaces in their strong defensive line.
- Although there were a number of goals, Stu C gets credit for the game-winning first one, breaking through the solid Ives formation for the first time and setting the tone for the game.
- All three forwards got two goals each but managed to avoid lemons for hat-trick avoidance, the heat falling instead on Rob for an over-zealous deflection (if you believe the ball was going in beforehand...)
- St Ives teas were classic high quality warming pasta bake. Perfect on a cold winter day.

Player of the Match

In a game of great forward pressure, still made a huge difference pulling the opponents markers around as a defender (plus scoring a disallowed goal!)

Rob Barton
Lemon of the Match

Intercepting Stu's second goal...which the team elects to believe was otherwise going in
