L6 0-9 Ely City Ladies 2
Ely set the tone for this match with three early goals. They were a strong, fast and well-drilled team. But the 6s don’t let results get in the way of enjoying our hockey. We kept our heads up, kept working, running and playing as a team and most of all having fun on the pitch. There were two more players making their senior hockey debut today. Tadi was thrown in the deep end in goal – and she was on fire, diving left and right to make many fantastic saves – certainly playing a big part in keeping the final score at single figures. Some of these weren’t cleared quick enough by the defence, and a few goals came from following up rebounds. May slotted seamlessly into the team – the subbing rotation meant she got a go at almost every position at some point in the match, and adapted to all of them with great pace and energy. Josie worked non-stop in midfield, always hassling and chasing for the ball, sharing the PoM award with our superstar goalie. Hard work by the back line kept some of Ely’s attacks away. Thank you to our supporters and umpires for staying out for this late final game of the day.
