Calendar says 1st Nov is All Saints Day - but today was South's Day not Saints!
Sarah RittmanV ery keen to put the unfortunate start to the season behind us, the L5s lined up ready for another win.
I t was just as well as the first half saw some excellent attacking play and a goal from Amy! Plus a narrowly saved short strike from Sarah.
C ountless players played out of position and did a great job in our new formation, with support from Coach Chris.
T hree votes made Martha POM for excellent defence, but the amazing team effort was reflected in the range of nominations (Rose, Lou, Anna, Elodie, Amy).
O ne vote for Sarah for LOM (a tad late) but the rest for Victoria for yellow sock wearing, rebelling against the prevailing purple...
R eally great teamwork and persistence kept St Ives at bay in a defensive second half.
Y es we did score, yes we did win, which was a lovely surprise to about half the team who thought it was a draw!!
The goal was an excellent strike from Amy, but made possible by great teamwork in the lead-up - several previous attempts were blocked or saved but South kept the ball in the D by picking up the clearances and passing them around between team mates.
Victoria Barker
The only one in yellow socks (though that was a better contrast to St Ives navy than our purple!)
