Successful Sixes Smash It
Lou WalkerL6s gained their first victory back in November, but since then, we’ve had several games called off by opponents bailing, or weather, and one narrow defeat at Ely. For the first time, this was a genuine 6s team with no assistance required from higher up the club. The future of South looks bright, with the team made up of 12 energetic young players, alongside Lou, and Tess making her recent return to hockey action in style. There was pace, there was energy, there was skill. Speedy Emily drove up the wing, outrunning the opposition. Tess banged in a couple of early goals and we were 2-0 up at half time. It was a great team performance, with everyone backing each other up – shout out to defender Astrid for great positioning to support the attacks. Kaylee was a force in midfield, driving through the opposition, and getting two well-deserved goals in the second half. Our fourth goal was a p-flick. Always daunting to step up and take one of these, but Sophie (who had a brilliant game all round) didn’t hesitate to go for it, and put it away to bring us 5-nil up. Peterborough did not give up, and scored a late goal to end the game 5-1.
