Behold, a graph. The green bar is today's result. Today's unique result!
So far this season the M5s have been quite good at winning by a good margin, or drawing, or losing by a small margin. It's been suggested that our strategy of conceding a couple of times before scoring our own goals makes it hard to turn around those missing tight victories, but for once we made it work.
Many names were put forward during MoM voting and discussion, I'll keep it to the highlights.
- Thanks to Jan for organising a proper warmup for a good group of us.
- Credit to Robbie for keeping us in it for the first few minutes, before we found our feet.
- Many votes for James M and Nuwan as wingbacks extraordinaire, both consistently being in space to support attacks but also running hard to cut out the turnarounds and consistently stealing the ball. Nuwan's votes slightly pipped James' to achieve MoM status alongside...
- Rueben who was a cross between a rock and a ninja in midfield, very hard to keep from the ball, equally hard to steal it back from.
- Paul and Andy both equally acclaimed for their rock solid defence.
- And on the forward line, Craig getting votes for making a lot happen in the D, not least one of our goals.
On the lemon side Rob picked up a lot of votes for not getting a hat trick, fuelled by an erroneous claim (not from him!) that he'd scored twice. What a twist. Craig wisely waited until after the voting to reveal his yellow socks.
Nuwan Chandratillake
Excellent wing play, supporting goals but outrunning every opponent on the turn around
Rob Barton
No hat trick, despite how hard Craig worked to give Rob a beautiful cross
