Mini Egg Cookies: A Matchday Recipe
Zoë WatsonMini Egg Cookies: A Matchday Recipe
For the final bake-off of the season, it was only right that Mini Eggs made an appearance. An elite chocolate for an elite squad—much like the L2s themselves.
Ingredients:
• Mini Eggs (Zoë) – Clearly the star of the bake and as I gotPlayer of the Match and a goal, it’s only fair I claim the starring role.
• Chocolate Chips (George) – Another standout ingredientwith two POM nominations and a goal-line save that deserves its own Hollywood handshake.
• Eggs (Pimms & Harry) – The glue holding everything together. Much like their screening work, nothing gets past them and everything sticks exactly where it should.
• Sugar (Charlotte & Daisy) – Skills as sweet as sugar up the pitch & in the D
• Flour (Nic & Jess) – The backbone of the bake. Reliable, versatile, and absolutely everywhere—defence to attack. You simply can’t make cookies without them.
• Baking Powder (Emily)– Rising to the occasion as captain in Freya’s absence
• Bicarbonate of Soda (Rhi) – TBH I’m not really surewhat bicarb does half the time but it’s definitely important. Much like Rhi, bringing elite sideline energy alongside Ralph.
• Vanilla Extract (Lyles) – A key flavour addition, Lyles added a smooth hint of South spirit to the midfield mix
Equipment Required:
• Baking Tin (Tadi) – Absolutely crucial. Much like a goalkeeper—everything would fall apart without one.
• Weighing scales (Izzy P) – Accuracy is key here as were Izzy’s passes across the pitch & up the line
• Wooden Spoon (Hayley) – Stirring the bowl, directing from the back and making sure all the ingredients were getting mixed in in true washing machine fashion
• Egg Timer (Jenny) – Precision is key. Jenny kept the bench ticking over perfectly, rotating players like trays in a well-run oven.
Method:
1. Preheat the players by running an animal themed warmup where players must bunny hop or prance like a dressage horse to get their muscles warmed up and heads in the game.
2. Add all ingredients to the pitch. Mix thoroughly by running in circles until well combined, slightly chaotic, and a few goals have been scored.
3. After 35 minutes, rotate the baking tray (and the team) to ensure even cooking on all sides.
4. Continue baking for a full 70 minutes, until the mixture transforms into something hot, sweaty, and surprisingly effective.
5. Leave the cookies to cool with a cold pint & a Wilberforce road baked potato
Bakers Tip: For best results, reduce opposition short corners where possible, failing that more mini eggs & chocolate chips would probably also do the trick.
