The 5’s journeyed to Oundle prepared for a tough match against a team that won 8-0 the previous week. With a familial relation, some sneaky insider information on Oundle’s team would come in handy to pre-warn us of some big hitters, fast runners, and an experienced goalie. We were ready to take them on! 

We ended the first half at 0-1 and were hopeful to equalise or keep the score, but a few unlucky goals ended the game at 0-4. Still a great score for the 5’s against Oundle and we can be very proud! 

The back line played a great defensive game, transferring the ball away from the (what seemed like) unbreakable press set by Oundle during 16’s and getting the ball up to the mids. Gayatri had an amazing South debut, getting the ball up the wings and making some great tackles ensuring Oundle didn’t get to the D. Both Hattie and Anna had an amazing defensive game earning them joint POM for their heroic efforts. Rosie, Ellie, and Penelope had a great game breaking through the middle and intercepting Oundle’s attacks. Alice made some great runs up the pitch, Char had some great hits on goal, and Polly played amazing in a new forward position with such a close attempt on goal, but unfortunately Oundle’s keeper cleared the ball. Wei made some great saves but unfortunately some forgotten shoes and willingness to play in a pair of elegant slip ons earned her LOM.
