A brave 10 players gathered to take on the Pelicans. The L6s welcomed debutants Georgia, Imogen and Suhana in goal, all playing their first senior game for South. We defended solidly against multiple attacks from Pelicans, and got plenty of short corner practice in, which included a few clearances off the line by Lou on the post, and brave runs by Poppy. With an abundance of defenders, Niamh deserves a shout for adapting to play in midfield, working hard at her new position (made harder by being a player down). We were pleased to have a clean sheet at half time, but eventually began to run out of steam, and Pelicans capitalised with two goals towards the end of the second half. A great effort from a brand new line-up unused to playing together, and learning to do so with one less player. Another shoutout goes to Immy who bravely turned up not even having trained yet and made some great runs up front.
