‘‘Twas the Last Match Before Christmas’’

Emma Larner

Twas the last match before Christmas, and the L5s were ready to fight.
Once we’d all arrived at the right pitch (Sarah!), we started play and attacked with all our might.
Unfortunately, despite great possession and chances on goal,
The Saints were the ones to score and were on to a roll.

With lots of running, passing, and some really great play,
The L5s (with the help of some L4s) keep on improving day by day.

At half time Emma earned Lemon for dropping the sweets,
But we were able to press on and run lots without the help of treats.

Polly subbed back on with another player’s stick.
St Neots made it three-nil…the ball hitting the net from a sneaky flick.

Ellie won Player of the Match by stepping up to be our keeper,
Other noms included Polly, Liz, Nicky, Ginny, Emma and Rosie for being a great sweeper.

In the final minute we charged and went on the attack.
They had a breakaway run and scored, getting their own back.

We fought hard and had lots of fun,
But with a final score of four-nil, St Neots won!

Despite the score, play was pretty even.
We look forward to playing the rest of the season.

But for now we’re excited for the CSHC social tonight…
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
