Too Bad…Too Good

Sean Gardiner

It was a case of ‘too bad, too good’ at Kettering for the M5s this weekend. It was a match consisting of different periods for us, some where we played well, passing was slick and pace of player and ball awesome, and others where we switched off for a bit!

We had so much of the possession in the first half and more shots on goal than I could count in the lead up to half time, although we only finished the half one-nil up.

Early in the second half the home team were looking much better and shocked us with an overload of their own, leading to a goal. One-one so all to play for. Tempers began to fray a bit, with Avi receiving a green card for trying a little too hard to make his point with the umpire, who was rightly having none of it! After that South began to take control again, with Avi coming back on after his enforced two minute ‘cool down’ to score the two goals that would win us the match. From good to bad to good again, was what it was. It could have gone either way and been so tricky for us but as a team we have grown, and patience once again was the winner for us.

A special mention for our goalkeeper and worthy MoM, Naka, for accidentally taking their best player out but then saving the resulting penalty flick and for generally being in control the whole game. But great team effort in the end to keep our unbeaten run going strong.

LoM was overwhelmingly Avi (despite scoring the winning goals!) for his little disagreement with the umpire… Remember, Avi, they have the cards, you don’t!
