Once upon a time…

Lily Matthews

Once upon a time, it was a brisk but bright morning in Cambridge.

I rolled out of bed raring to go, quickly cuddled Jangles the cat then rushed to Long Road to cheer for my dad’s Nomads team who were playing against the M3s for the first game of the morning. South won and it was very chilly.

The peak of the day was the pre-match team social. We met at bury lane farm shop for brunch.
- I had the omelet  4/5 (was a bit too full from my breakfast sausage bap oops)
- many people had the salmon and eggs but unfortunately didn’t rate the scrambled eggs 3/5
- Lucy had a big farm house fry up, which didn’t sit well during the match  4/5  then later 2/5
-Sophie had a large jacket potato filled with chilli 5/5

We also talked about tactics and tried to remember what Tim said at training.

The actual game is quite hard to remember. There was a lot of running, a lot of shouting, Kate D seemed to be everywhere. Tim paced the sideline like a frustrated football manager after a couple of close opportunities from uni and missed chances from us.
We could’ve taken the win but overall was a solid team performance.

After my first game as an inner my leg could no longer keep up so I decided to have a lie down for the last 90 seconds of the game. The pitch was cold and wet, not very bouncy as a mattress; I do not recommend 1/5

Ps I didn’t let that stop me enjoying a vin chaud at 11.30am on the ski slopes
(Trying to ski with crutches 1/5)

(Sorry Lily, I had to take all your emojis out because it wouldn't upload with them in :( )
