Groundhog Day

After a great start of the season, beating City last week, the team's spirits were high. South looked strong on Tuesday practice and the team was eager to show no mercy towards the Nomads.

The first fifteen minutes of the game South started strong, some good plays have been made and the team was waiting patiently to score the first goal. However the Nomads regrouped, gaining possession and putting pressure towards the South's defence. The first half ended with Stu receiving a green card for committing a professional foul.

The second half begins with the Nomads pressing hard, winning a couple short corners and scoring one of them through a deflection, leaving the team 1-0 behind. In the final fifteen minutes South commenced a few offensive charges, finding a gap between the Nomads' lines. Unfortunately a goal scored by Harry Lewis was disallowed due to an earlier stick block by James Bailey.

The match ended with a disappointing result of one-nil. South, as Chalky stated, didn't adapt to the Abbey’s conditions and their deep press, whilst Nomads performed a masterclass on how to play on a slow surface and close out a lead.

With that being said the season is still young, South is still a force to be reckoned with, the team played excellent hockey in the first fifteen minutes which gives hints and clues on how dangerous the team can be. Now the team is anxious to charge head-on against Crostyx in London.
